Betty M. Battig WEBBetty M. Battig, age 92, of Delta, peacefully passed away with her family by her side at Swanton Health Care Center, Sunday afternoon July 12, 2015. She was born in Delta on February 14, 1923 to the late George Lambert and Beulah (Cass) Lambert.  On February 26, 1942 she married Carl Battig and he preceded her in death in 1995.

Betty was a homemaker and loving wife and mother.  When she was not caring for her nine children, she enjoyed crocheting and gardening.  Betty was a member of the former First Baptist Church in Delta, American Legion Auxiliary and tried to always lend a helping hand volunteering with the Hands of Grace.

She is survived by her children, Robert (Judy) Battig, Connie (Max) Johnston, Shirley (Gene) Bowerman, Rita Nijakowski, Carl (Patti) Battig, Phyllis, Christine Bartrum, Virginia (Dan) Battig and Charlotte Murry; sister, Juanita Hoffman; brothers, Raymond (Pauline), Kenneth (Shirley), Ted (Billie Jo) and Hal (Cynthia) Lambert; sister-in-law, Ester Battig; 19 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.  In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Beverly Battig; sister, Imogene Lambert and Robert Lambert.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 St. Hwy. 109 in Delta; with an American Legion Auxiliary service being held at 7:30 PM.  A funeral service celebrating Betty’s life will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday also at the funeral home.  Pastor Tom Bates will be officiating.  Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Delta.
