WAUSEON—The Wauseon Public Library, along with other libraries and schools across the country, will be celebrating Dr. Seuss’ Birthday on Friday, March 2. The library will be celebrating his birthday with Dr. Seuss Seek & Find from March 2-7. Children may come in any time that week and participate in the Dr. Seuss “scavenger hunt.”
Dr. Seuss wrote over 40 children’s books, which sold more than two hundred million copies worldwide. He won numerous awards including three Caldecott Honor Awards, two Peabody Awards, an Emmy Award, and a Pulitzer Prize for more than 50 years of dedicated work in education and entertainment. Many of his books and stories have been made into movies, which the library will show throughout the day.
“Dr. Seuss has brought so much fun to reading,” explained Library Director Amy Murphy. “We would be missing out on so much fun and zaniness without characters like the Cat in the Hat or the Grinch Who Stole Christmas.”
