Edon Northwest Elementary Students Raise Money For American Heart Association

IMG_0090.JPGStudents at Edon Northwest Elementary School recently raised $4,777 for their annual “Jump Rope for Heart” and “Hoops for Heart” fundraising events. Planned by Physical Education teachers Suzanne Hollabaugh and Byron Weaver, schoolchildren collected pledges from family and friends with all donations benefiting the American Heart Association.

Earning Top Individual and Classroom “Hoops for Heart” Honors in donor collections were Allison Kaylor and Ashley Kaylor raising two hundred fifty-one dollars apiece and Michelle Free’s Fifth Graders teaming up to raise four hundred ninety-eight dollars in AHA contributions as well. Amassing two hundred five dollars in “Jump Rope for Heart” donations was Top Collector Samantha Hake; Top Classroom accolades went to Toni Thiel’s First Graders who brought in pledges totaling six hundred dollars.

Over the past thirty-plus years, Edon Northwest Elementary students have raised nearly one hundred thousand dollars for the American Heart Association. A special awards assembly held May 15 recognized all boys and girls who participated in this year’s successful fundraising event.
