Edon’s Julian Ridgway Receives Outstanding Achievement Award

IMG_0558.JPGThe State Support Team Region 1 has selected Julian Ridgway, Edon, Ohio, to receive the 2015 R. A. Horn Outstanding Achievement Award. Julian is a student at Four County Career Center in Archbold, Ohio. Julian is senior in the Software Design and Web Development program at Four County Career Center.

Through educational supports and structures provided by the Four County Career Center staff, Julian has demonstrated significant growth in his social and academic skills. He has become a strong self-advocate and independent learner. At Four County Career Center, Julian has an accumulative grade point average of 3.2.

Julian is an active member of Business Professionals of America and has participated in regional competitions. He placed fourth in Visual Basic Programming last year, and fifth in Visual Basic/C# Programming this year. He also shows his spirit as a volunteer at Special Olympics events.

An exciting future is beginning for Julian following graduation. He has been accepted at Trine University as an Arts and Science Foundation major, studying computer engineering.

Julian was nominated by Kristan Norden, vocational special education coordinator at Four County Career Center.

The Horn Walter Outstanding Achievement Award luncheon is sponsored by the Ohio Coalition for the Education of Children with Disabilities (OCECD) with support from Ohio’s 16 State Support Teams. The Horn Walter Outstanding Achievement Award event offers an opportunity to honor outstanding educators and students with disabilities from districts across Ohio. Each State Support Team accepts nominations from public school districts, community schools, career centers, educational service centers, and county boards of developmental disabilities in their region.

Julian Ridgway will join educators and students from each of Ohio’s 16 State Support Teams on June 17, 2015, at the Villa Milano Banquet and Conference Center in Columbus, Ohio. Honorees will receive their awards during the luncheon that takes place from 11.00 a.m. until 2.00 p.m.

The State Support Team Region 1 congratulates the outstanding performance of this and other fine northwest Ohio students. Each is to be commended.
