Music is a universal language; one that can be understood throughout the world regardless of geography, socio-economic status, or any of those other factors that humanity has all too often let divide it to a point where meaning is lost. Fayette’s Junior High and High School Choirs and Bands showcased this sentiment in their performance for friends and family at their concert on October 14, 2014. Treated to a diverse set of melodies and tones, the audience was treated to selections that encompassed not only standards but also patriotic marches, folk songs, and even Spanish songs as well. It did not matter that not everyone in the audience could always understand the lyrics. Harmonies, melodies, rhythms, and tone in choral, a cappella, and instrumental pieces were all generally understood by all in attendance as the music worked to unite the room. Even more understood was the effort that all of the students have been putting into honing their own particular craft(s).
