Gerald D. Combs, 77 years, of Paulding, passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice Center, Defiance. Gerry was born November 8, 1938 in Leipsic, Ohio, the son of the late Merrill and Gertrude (Gebhardt) Combs.
Gerry was employed as a laborer at General Motors in Defiance with over 30 years of service. Prior to this he had drove truck for several area farmers. He was a member of the UAW Local 211. Gerry enjoyed camping, fishing, boating, taking leisurely drives in the countryside, taking in all nature had to offer. He also enjoyed going to Michigan to go mushroom hunting.
Surviving are his two sons, Dan (Linda) Combs of Swanton and Dennis (Kelly) Combs of Paulding; five grandchildren, Dylan (Stacy) Haney, McKenzie Haney, Carrie E. Combs and twins, Bailey and Brooke Combs; two great-grandsons, Daniel and Abraham; two brothers, Richard “Dick” Combs and William “Bill” (Madeline) Combs, and three sisters, Clara (Chuck) Pugh, Donna (Donald) Lause and Madeline Combs.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Debra Haney, infant son, David D. Combs; five brothers, Eugene Combs, Leonard Combs, Terry Combs, Ervin Combs, James Combs; three sisters, Betty Agner, Elene Combs and Charlene Combs.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. at the Dennis Combs Residence, 10289 Road 95, Paulding, Ohio. Arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan.
