Hilltop Cadets Shake Off Opening Day Disaster With A Rally Over Rogers

N1208P39010C webWEST UNITY – The Rams of Rogers High School rolled into Cadet Country to take on Hilltop on the afternoon of April 2. The slugfest started in the first inning and carried throughout the game, with the hometown boys getting the final word.

Trailing 10-8 going into the home half of the final frame, the Cadets answered with three runs to take the game in walk-off fashion, 11-10.

Justin Grapengeter went 5 innings and was tagged with 7 runs, 4 earned on 3 hits, 8 walks and a plunked batter, striking out 10. Chad Champion got in 3 innings of work, allowing 3 runs on 3 hits and a walk, fanning 4.

Grapengeter plated 2 runs with 3 singles and a sacrifice fly for the 1-1 Cadets, while Miklo Abner drove in another 2 with a pair of base hits. Brandon Willis had an RBI triple, Logan Brooker and Josh Phillips each had RBI base hits and Jesse Westfall had a single.
