Montpelier Chamber Makes Plans For Future Events

The Village Reporter

There were several events discussed at the Montpelier Chamber of Commerce’s June regular board meeting.

It was announced that Grand Marshals for the annual Bean Days parade needed to be selected, and that the community had until the twenty-third of June to make nominations. Since the conclusion of the meeting, the Kannel family led by patriarch Mike and matriarch Sue, has been chosen to receive the honor.

Lanyards will be handed out to all pilots taking part in the Bean Days Balloon Festival on July 16. Those entering the contest can make a canned food donation at the gate to receive a discounted entry fee. The canned goods will be given to the Open Hands, Caring Hearts, and Helping Hands organization.

The Chamber Golf Outing will take place on August 15. It will be held at Patriot Hills Golf Course. Heading the committee for the event are Jason Luke, Susan Gearhart, and Jenni Koch. Invitations for the outing were sent to all members of the chamber.

Board members also deliberated on both current and former tenants of the Chamber owned building. It was decided that remaining debts owed by past tenants would be forgiven by the board. Issues regarding appliances used by tenants still in the structure were tabled until renewal of lease agreements next year. The Chamber retained their plan through Kannel Insurance regarding insurance on the building.

Local business Miller’s New Market, once a former member of the Chamber, has reinstated their membership.

The meeting was adjourned without entering into Executive Session.
