The Montpelier Chamber of Commerce continues to grow, as it adds two more members to its number, it was announced at their April regular meeting.
Each month since the start of 2015, membership within the Chamber has seen steady expansion. Not only has it welcomed new businesses into the fold, but former members as well. For the month of April, it is a new pair of local organizations counting themselves as part of the Chamber.
The Athena Study Club and Surely Daisies have both accepted invitations to proclaim Chamber membership. While they are the latest addition to the Montpelier group, if recent history is any indication, they won’t be the last.
Also taking place at the meeting, Chamber Board President Jeanette Hull spoke on behalf of the Bean Days Committee. She made it known that two large character balloons have been added to the parade roster, as well as the ten other hot air balloons that will be present for the event. Hull mentioned that the time of the parade has been moved as well, with the public gathering now happening at 1:00 P.M.
Committee members for the annual Chamber Golf Outing have been selected. Organizing the fundraiser will be board members Jason Luke, Susan Gearhart, and Jenni Koch. Their priorities at the moment are to secure sponsors for each hole and attempt to procure prize donations. The Golf Outing is set for August 15.
During her report on the state of the Montpelier Local Library, Gloria Osborn noted that painting classes will be offered in the building on May 7. They are in need of empty shoe boxes with lids for the course, and are requesting donations of such be dropped off at the library.
Board member Kellie Gray motioned to adjourn the meeting, while Candace Potts seconded, ending the meeting. The board will next meet in regular session on Friday, May 8, at 8:00 A.M.
