The Montpelier Civic League is gearing up for their annual Casino Night to be held on March 14. This year’s event will take place at the Ramada Inn to accommodate more ticket holders and gamers. Working alongside the Civic League, over 75 areas businesses, groups and independent consultants have donated toward this event, making the community event one that showcases the community’s ability to come together for a worthy cause.

All proceeds from the event will be donated back into the community. The Civic League gives out four $1000 scholarships to high school seniors each year in May as well as donates to local organizations like the Humane Society, Montpelier Public Library, and the Parks & Rec Department. The Civic League has also helped to fund the new playground equipment at Storrer park (specifically the train that kids can climb on) as well as sponsor a youth softball team. Funds are also given to the Montpelier Chamber of Commerce for the Halloween parade/candy and the Bean Days Celebration. Additionally, the organization regularly donates to groups such as the Science Olympiad, the archery club, Locomotion, Spanish Club, and the Post Prom Committee at the school as well as helps to fund the academic banquet, spelling bee, and a wide host of other activities at the school.

The doors at this year’s event will open at 6:00 with food from 6:30 – 6:30. Casino style gamling and games will be held from 7:30 – 10:30 with a silent auction also taking place from 6:30 – 9:00. Prize Drawings will be held from 10:30 – 11:00 and include prizes such as a $1000 cash prize, a gift card tree, outside furniture, and a romantic getaway package. 50/50 drawings and raffle giveaways will also be held throughout the event.

Tickets for the event are sold for a $60 donation each and include dinner, beer, wine, and $1000 in gaming vouchers. Games include Blackjack, roulette, double roulette, Texas Holdem, 3 card poker, Caribbean Stud, Casino War, Let it Ride, and Craps!

Those who are interested can also purchase a room at the Ramada at a reduced rate while purchasing their Casino Night ticket. A Sunday breakfast buffet at Wynn’s is also available at a discounted price for those staying at the Ramada.

Anyone interested in obtaining a ticket to Casino Night can contact any Civic League member. However, it should be noted that tickets are limited and have been selling fast. Anyone who has a group in need of assistance with funding a project or would like to submit a request for funds can do so by sending a written request to the Civic League Treasurer, Tashia Thompson, at 114 S. Pleasant St. in Montpelier.
