On the evening of June 23, members of the Montpelier Exempted Village Board of Education convened to an agenda laden with preparations for the 2015-2016 school year.

In matters pertaining to personnel, the Board moved to accept the resignations of Jennifer Kustec, music teacher; Josiah Osburn, intervention specialist; Christina Mercer, fifth grade teacher, and Krystal Beres, paraprofessional, at the end of the 2014-2015 school year. The Board also approved a Memorandum of Understanding between the Montpelier Education Association and the Montpelier Exempted Village Board of Education to allow the additions of supplemental positions for Spelling Bee advisors. The Board approved graduate hours for Jennifer Carpenter, Len Etter, Stephanie Friend, Fara Neff and Stacie Yagelski for the 2015-2016 school year.
In matters of Certified Staff, the Board extended one year contracts to Kyle McCarley as a high school math teacher, Laura Zumbaugh as a music teacher, Katie McCarty and Ashley Thorp as kindergarten teachers, and Elishah Siegel as an intervention specialist. at Bachelor’s and 6 years’ experience, pending verification, for the 2015-2016 school year. Members of the Board voted to approve for 8 days extended time Michele Anderson, and approved the following one year supplemental contracts…

In matters pertaining to Classified Staff, the Board offered one year contracts to Kenneth Herbert and Marcella Cherry as paraprofessionals, Daniel Stuckey as a bus driver at 3 hours per day, and added Laura Pirtle to the substitute aide and substitute cafeteria list for the 2015-2016 school year. Members of the Board agreed to a bus bid from Cardinal Bus for two 72-passenger buses, with two trade-ins, to be paid from the General Fund, as well as the purchase of the Ohio Science Fusion textbooks, grades K-8, at $51,329.41 for the 2015-2016 school year.
Also agreed upon by the Board was to approve an agreement with Pepsi Beverages Company beginning July 1, 2015 and ending on June 30, 2020, and an agreement with the Northwest Ohio Juvenile Detention and Rehabilitation Center for the 2015-2016 school year at $38.00 per student, per week day.
The Board agreed to approve the Voluntary Student Accident and Sickness Insurance Program through Love Insurance, and the property, liability, violence and automotive insurance through the Ohio School Plan for the 2015-2016 school year at $50,924.00.
Finally, the Board approved the NwOESC Mentor Program agreement, the NWOCA Technical Service Agreement, and the NWOCA membership fees at $36,798.00 for the 2015-2016 school year.
