PETTISVILLE – The Pettisville Lady Blackbirds evened their season record at 2-2 by fending off a late Evergreen rally to preserve a 39-29 win on December 3.
Pettisville ran out to a 21-10 lead at the half, but Evergreen began to chew into the lead in the second half. The Ladybirds regained control of the game in the fourth though, reestablishing a double-digit lead that proved to be a winning margin.
“It was a nice win for us tonight,” said Pettisville Coach, Jason Waldvogel. “Audra Klopfenstein and Jordyn Pursel did a great job on their defensive assignments tonight. Dana Fricke stepped up on the offensive end also. I was very proud of the way our ladies controlled the game, especially in the fourth quarter.”
Fricke finished with a game-high 19 points for Pettisville, with Mikala Avina putting up 11. Lauren Hostetler was limited to 5 points, with Klopfenstein getting 3 points and Pursel adding a free throw.
