Pettisville Volleyball Drops Matches to Patrick Henry and Columbus Grove

VR LOGO - WEBThe Lady Blackbirds faced off against two opponents on August 23. Despite getting off to hot starts in each match, however, they finished the day with their first two losses on the young season.

 Against Patrick Henry, Pettisville came out of the gate ablaze, taking the first game 25-15.  Game 2 was a close battle, with the Lady Blackbirds dropping the set 23-25.  The shift in momentum continued in game 3, and the Pettisville girls lost by a margin of 15-25.

 Pettisville’s Dana Fricke made an impressive 11 kills in the match, also making an ace.  Jordyn Pursel also proved vital to the Blackbirds with 9 kills, 7 digs, and 2 aces.  Kate Kauffman made things easy for her fellow Blackbirds with her 14 assists, along with 2 aces and 1 kill.

 The Lady Blackbirds started strong in their second match as well, this time against Columbus Grove.  They won the first set 25-20.  Game 2 was just as competitive, but went against the Blackbirds by a score of 21-25.  Patrick Henry pulled away a bit in the third set, handing Pettisville a 16-25 defeat.

 Pursel led the way for the Lady Blackbirds with 8 kills to go with her 5 digs and 3 aces.  Fricke also nailed 8 kills, also serving 2 aces and making 3 blocks.  Stephanie Hubby had an astounding 22 digs for the Lady Blackbirds as well.  Kauffman again set her teammates up with 10 assists on the day.
