BOYS VARSITY BASKETBALL

Liberty Center 36, Fayette 35 –  The Eagles (15-1) were up 26-20 heading into the fourth quarter but the Tigers fought back to send the game into overtime.  In the overtime session Liberty Center outscored Fayette 4-3 but it was the point they needed for the win.  Jared Seiler led Fayette with 19 points.

Swanton 70, Emmanuel Christian 39 – No stats received.

Defiance 59, Archbold 53 – No stats received.

Wauseon 69, Springfield 65 (2 OT) – After Trailing DIVISION I opponent by ten at the intermission the Indians (14-3, 5-1)  clawed their way back into the contest and were victorious in two overtime sessions. Brooks Gype scored nine of his team’s high 22 points in the third quarter to help in closing the gap against the Blue Devils. His team mate Austin Rotroff added 19 as the Indians finished 22 of 29 at the foul line. Ricky Lightner lite up the scoreboard for Springifield with a game high 30 points.

Evergreen 43, North Central 32 – The Vikings steadily increased the lead over the Eagles during each of the four quarter. Bryce Hudik’s 17 points, including four three-point shots, helped propel the Evergreen to their eighth win of the season. North Central was led by Ethan Douglass who was the lone double figure man with 10 points for the 1-16 Eagles.

Antwerp 54, Montpelier 51 – The Locos’  Kolden Uribes scored a game-high 25 points but Antwerp held off Montpelier in a nonleague contest. Kyrin Schuman added 14 for Montpelier who fell to 9-7 on the season.

Ayersville 52, Pettisvlle 26 – The Pilots jumped out to a 21-12 lead at the break and went on for the non-conference win. Gabe Beck was the high-point man for the Blackbirds finishing with 10 points.

Bryan 54, Fairview 45 –  Jaden Valderas and Colt Arthur with 13 and 11 points respectively led the Golden Bears to their ninth win of the season over the Apaches.

Edgerton 69, Hilltop 68 –  The game was as close as the score indicates. Edgerton (11-6) held a 25-21 lead at the half then the Cadets (11-7)  outscored the Bulldogs 47-44 during the second half to fall just short. The Cadets had four players in double figures. Ryan Brooker led the scoring parade with 21 points followed by Tim Maneval with 20, Steven Riley with 14 and Quinn Smith with 12. Edgerton’s Mitchell Cercone led the game in scoring with 27 and Alex Michael added 24 in the narrow victory.

Holgate 55, Stryker 49 – After falling behind 15-6 in the opening quarter the Panthers fought back to take a one-point lead entering the final quarter. But the Tigers would not be denied as they overcame the nine fourth quarter points by Stryker’s Cameron Frey for the win.  Frey led Stryker with 17 points while Izayah Ferguson added 10 points.


BOYS J.V. BASKETBALL

Wauseon 43, Springfield 35 – No stats received.

Evergreen 40, North Central 32 – Evergreen outscored North Central 19-10 in the final eight minutes for the win. The game’s high scorer was Cody Tomblin who connected for 14 points. Evergreen. though not having anyone in double figures, had nine points apiece from John Machacek and Landon Niles.

Holgate 31, Stryker 29 – The Panthers led 20-11 at the break but Holgate used a strong third quarter and a one-point fourth quarter output from Stryker to gain the win.  The Panthers were led in scoring by Chase Glock with 13 points.

Edgerton 31, Hilltop 27 – Edgerton used a scoreless third quarter from the Cadets to secure the four point margin of victory.  Collins led Hilltop with 11 points and Cape had seven for Edgerton.

Ayersville 48, Pettisville 16 – No stats received.

GIRLS VARSITY BASKETBALL

Edgerton 42, Edon 35 – A sluggish first half cost the Bomber the contest in this non-conference match up.  Down 20-9 at the break, the Bomber came to life in the second half out scoring the Bulldogs 26-22 but it was not enough to overcome the 11-point deficit.  Edgerton was led by Natalee Landel’s  11 points. Nine of her 11 points were scored at the foul line. Kaitlyn Sonneberger had six at the break for Edon then came out in the second half and score 12 more point to lead the Bombers with 18 point.
