Stryker Library Sets Summer Time Reading Programs

IMG_0090.JPGStryker Branch Library’s summer reading will run from Tuesday, June 09 through Thursday, July 09. All programs will begin at 1:00 pm.

Special guests will visit the library throughout the summer reading months on Tuesdays. Programming will kick off on June 09 with a visit from Mick Frisbie and his K9 dog. Don’t miss the June 16 event, where the Armstrong Air & Space Museum from Wapakoneta will present, SUPERMAN! On June 23 Dr. Tasha, from Pondview Veterinary Clinic, will be teaching on the importance of vet care. On June 30 take part in a special Treasure Hunt! Get your picture taken with mascot Johnny from the Fort Wayne TinCaps on July 07.

On the Wednesdays of June 10, 17, 24, and July 08 “Stories on the Lawn” will be held. Story time will take place outside under the shade tree, weather permitting, with stories being read by local heroes. Cool treats will be served afterwards. Children who attend this story time will be given a ballot at each program to enter to win passes to Putt Putt in Defiance, Ohio. The drawing will take place on July 08.

On Wednesday, July 1 there will be a special movie day in celebration of Independence Day.

Thursdays will be “Make and Take Super Hero Craft Days.” Kids are invited to stop in on June 11, 18, and 25 to make a themed super hero craft! On July 02 stop in and make a 4th of July craft!

Summer reading’s Closing Party will be held on July 09 at 1:00 pm. There will be a Super Hero Training Camp with real super heroes! You don’t want to miss it!

This summer in June, July, and August, Stryker Library is featuring “Puppies on the Go.” Stryker families may choose one of five different available puppies (stuffed toys) to check out for a two-week loan period. Borrow a puppy and take it along on a family vacation, special event, day in the park, or picnic. Take a photograph of your child or family with the puppy at the special event. Each child may submit a non-returnable photo to be displayed on the library’s picture board. Photos need to be submitted when the puppies are returned to the library. At that time, the child’s name will be entered into a drawing for a grand prize. Deadline for all entries is August 14 at 5:00 pm.

Throughout summer reading at Stryker, children may sign up once daily, per checkout, for a drawing for 4 King’s Island tickets to go to one lucky winner.

Children may come in to register to be in our Super Hero Reading Program beginning June 01. Children reading one book per week, or having a book read to them, if not able to read to themselves yet, will be given a weekly incentive prize. You must have participated in 4 weeks of our Super Hero Reading Program to receive the grand prize goodie bag during the final week of our program.

Stryker Library is located at 304 S. Defiance Street. For questions about the summer reading program, please call Connie Aeschliman at 419-682-5081.
