The North Central Board of Education welcomed two new members to the district’s teaching staff at their May regular meeting.
Abbie Kirkingburg and Alecia Garrow were approved to join the school’s staff along with a host of contract restructuring hires. Kirkingburg will be instructing the Fifth Grade, while Garrow will take over both the Elementary and High School Art Departments.
Other contracts approved by the board include Stephanie Throne as a Pre-School Instructor, Connie Myers as a Junior High Science Teacher, Diane Veres as both the Junior High and High School Guidance Counselor, and Julie Galloway as a Pre-School Aide. Receiving jobs through the school in the way of the Summer Help Program are outgoing seniors Cady VanDeVoorde and Sabrina Pickford, as well as sophomore-to-be Cody Tomblin. Lisa Blue, Kent Hutchison, and Stacey Turner were awarded the title of Summer Adult Custodians. Sixty-three supplemental contracts were approved by the board also.
The resignations of Art Instructor Matt Frey and Junior High and High School Math Teacher Catherine Savage were accepted by the board over the course of the meeting as well. Severance pay for retiring staff members Jill Filler, Myers, and Veres also met with board approval.
Another contract approved by the board was for Tiny Eye Therapy Services to provide speech therapy services.
The building project will begin on either June 30 or July 1. This puts the construction on schedule. The roof for the new facility should be completed before the Winter of 2015-16.
Concluding the meeting by entering into Executive Session, the board discussed possible negotiations. No action was taken.
