Verona V. DeGroff, age 92, of rural West Unity, Ohio, died Tuesday night, March 14, 2017 in Hillside Country Living, rural Bryan, Ohio. She was born November 26, 1924 in Dekalb County, Indiana to the late Roscoe and Doris (Rose) Platt. She married C. Leon DeGroff on February 28, 1945 and he survives.
Verona was a lifelong homemaker and very involved in the family tiling business for many years. She was a member of New Hope Community Church, Bryan, Ohio, where she was active in the Jubilee and PrimeTime church groups.
Survivors include her husband, C. Leon DeGroff. Daughter, Yvonne (Myron) Ruffer, Lakeview, Michigan. Son, Larry (Carol) DeGroff, West Unity, Ohio. 9 grandchildren. 20 great-grandchildren. 6 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Linda Brandt, in 1976, and a sister, Eldean Schaffer and a infant sister, Phyllis.
Funeral service 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 18, 2017 in New Hope Community Church, North Campus Worship Center, State Route 127, Bryan, Ohio. Pastor Dave Nicholls officiating. Interment will follow in Lockport Cemetery. Funeral luncheon will follow the interment services Saturday in the church. Friends may call for time of visitation with the family, 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Friday in New Hope Community Church, Bryan, Ohio.
