Washington Leads Fort Wayne Over Lansing 9-3

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) — Jalen Washington hit a two-run home run and had two hits as the Fort Wayne TinCaps topped the Lansing Lugnuts 9-3 on Friday.

Trailing 1-0, Fort Wayne batted around in the third inning, sending 10 batters to the plate and scoring four runs, including a two-run home run by Washington.

The TinCaps later added three runs in the fourth and two in the fifth. In the fourth, Gabriel Arias drew a bases-loaded walk, scoring Tirso Ornelas, while Robbie Podorsky hit an RBI single and then scored on a double by Ornelas in the fifth.

Fort Wayne left-hander Osvaldo Hernandez (4-2) picked up a quality start and the win after allowing two runs on four hits over six innings. Opposing starter Matthew Gunter (0-2) took the loss in the Midwest League game after allowing four runs and four hits over 2 2/3 innings.
