The gauntlet began with Ottawa Hills, whom Wauseon defeated in two sets. The Indians controlled game 1, claiming the set 25-12. They repeated the same perfomance in game 2, winning by the exact 25-12 margin.
Morgan Bzovi successfully served 15 out of 16 times, scoring 7 aces along the way. Kierra Fountain nailed 7 kills for the Lady Indians. Sariah Yackee served 4 aces to go with her 4 digs. Hayley Chamberlain was the consummate team player with her 10 assists, and added 2 aces to her name as well. Finally, Kallie Strauss defended the net with 4 blocks and 3 kills.
The second match of the day went just the opposite for the Wauseon girls, as they lost in two sets to the Rams of Tinora. Game 1 belonged to Tinora, with the Lady Indians falling 12-25. Wauseon mounted an inspiring comeback attempt in game 2, but couldn’t quite pull it off, losing 23-25.
Hayley Chamberlain again put her teammates first, offering 10 assists, as well as 2 blocks, in the losing effort. Several Lady Indians defended the court well, with Kallie Strauss leading the way with 5 blocks to go with her 2 kills. Sydney Bosell had 4 blocks and 4 kills, Kierra Fountain batted down 3 blocks to go along with her 7 kills and 5 digs, and Karli Penrod contributed 3 blocks to the Wauseon defensive effort as well.
