The Chili Cook-Off committee met recently and have decided to continue on the tradition that is so widely enjoyed by Wauseon residents and the community. Along with the highly acclaimed Chili Contest, there are craft and food vendors, artists and artisans, free inflatables and train rides for kids, live entertainment during the entire event, pumpkin contest & new this year a “Cup Cake Decorating Contest”.
The Wauseon Chili Cook Off was first organized in 2004 by local business leaders, Marv Goldsmith, Dick Elrod, Rich Batdorf and Jerry Dehnbostel who had the vision to create a family friendly event for the entire family and has evolved into what is known today as a highly successful, fun filled day for one and all to enjoy.
The Wauseon Chili Fest Committee consists of nine volunteers this year and will donate over 300 man hours to insure its success. The committee consists of Kevin Nelson-chair, Kathy Huner, Marc Matheny, Trudi Mahnke, Chris Nelson, Metia Nelson, Debbie Nelson, Linda Frey and Margie Prior.
