West Unity Area Chamber Of Commerce Continues Preparations For Future Events

VR LOGO - WEBOn Monday April 6, 2015 the WU Area Chamber of Commerce Board Meeting was called to order and pledge of Allegiance was followed by roll call finding 12 Directors present and 2 absent. Guests were D & R Shows Owners Ron & Denise.

Ron & Denise shared information about D & R Shows and the various rides, games, and food trailers they have to offer for community events. The Board was able to ask questions and learn about other venues where D & R already sets up as well as how it may work if they were to participate in the Gathering In Unity Days events next year.
Minutes of the March meeting were read and approved as well as the reports presented by Treasurer Pat Burkholder, which were also approved.

The Business and Industry Show Committee reported a wonderful display at the chamber’s booth during this year’s event. It was said that West Unity’s booth was very popular and it was noted that the chamber even had a door prize to offer every hour. The Beautification Committee has all of the trees back into storage. The Gun Raffle Committee reports that ticket sales are moving along well and we should be on target for having all 400 sold by Gathering Days.

During “Old Business” Director Lindsey Smith reported everything is ready for a big turnout at the free community movie night slated for Friday April 10th in the school commons. President Bennett reported back that, while staying within budget, he was able to make several good buys on close out items at Shopko for this year’s Fall Auction.

In New Business, the motion was made and passed to support the Fair this year by having a $25.00 business card ad in the fair book. Entertainment and rides for 2016 were discussed and a group will attend the Tractor Club meeting in May to discuss this opportunity with them. Gathering Days shopping trip for the Chamber Members was set for May 27, which will allow the group to go and pick up the various items for the event. Discussed and tabled for May were dues for WEDCO. Pat Burkholder will research and report back.

The meeting adjourned at 8:32 pm with the next regular meeting scheduled for May 4, 2015 at 7:00 pm in the Library Conference Room.
