Minutes of June 1 were read and approved as well as the Treasurer Pat Burkholder presented her reports which were also approved.
Committee Report yielded updates about how the 2015 Gathering Days went this year as well as the Board heard a successful report about the Scholarship Committee and the gun raffle that was used as fundraiser to kick off the new account. The Budget & Audit Committee will have a report for the Board in August. The 127 Breakfast
Committee has things organized and ready for the August 6 event.
During “Old Business” Director M. Royal was directed to begin research on the materials to seal the wall in Friendship Park to get ready for the upcoming school year.
Director Royal will work with the Hilltop Art Department to paint a mural which will highlight the old school, new school and historic downtown West Unity. Director Royal is working with her committee members of Beautification to look at the flower pots downtown with the Omnibus club as well as the street banners that need replaced. Board members voted to use the proceeds from the gun raffle to start with 3 scholarships at $250.00 to be available for the 2016 graduate class. Director L. Smith will work with her committee to write application guides for the scholarships. Excitement surrounded the discussions about the parade from Gathering Days and the attendance numbers that participated in the many events this year. The Board plans to begin next meeting to start the planning process for 2016 Gathering Days which will bring rides to the park on June 10 and 11 at Memorial Park.
In New Business, Frosty was a hot topic and his need for a makeover. After much discussion is was decided by President Bennett to appoint a special committee for Frosty Makeover that will be chaired by Vice President K. Merillat. Also in new business it was announced a ribbon cutting will be held on Friday July 17 at noon for A2Z Road Service on South Main Street.
During the open session following new business the Board voted to hold its annual Director and family picnic at the home of Director J. Schmucker. The picnic will be held on Sunday August 16th, 2015 with each Director paying $5.00 toward meat.
Meeting adjourned at 8:21 pm with the next regular meeting scheduled for August 3rd, 2015 at 7:00 pm in the Library Conference Room.
