The Williams County Fair Foundation met in regular session on March 12th at 7:00 pm in the Thaman Building. Roll call found 4 Officers, 3 Trustee and 12 members present for total of 19.
It was announced the David Page was to be appointed by President Wilson to serve as Trustee assigned by the Ag Society for the 2015 year.
A written report was submitted by those who attended Maple Syrup meeting and much discussion ensued making sure things are ready for the event. Leonard Ludwig and Al Goebel are Co-Chairman and they are putting the final touches to making sure we have all the volunteers needed. President Bennett reported that during the regular meeting of the Special Deputies it was discussed about having plenty on hand for the crowds attending all the events that weekend.
Scott Carroll Chairman of Gillette Concessions and Trailer Concessions reported on recent activities as well as the need to adjust some prices due to oversight. This was tabled to discuss more at the April meeting.
President Bennett shared that the computer, software, and new color laser copier has been purchased and was under the $1200 budget by a savings of almost $300.00. Alan and Eugene are slowly working on the space for the new Fair Foundation office.
Melanie Lehman reported that the last fish fry was a sell out with 267 meals served. In order to accommodate a larger crowd, the March fish fry will have 300 pounds of fish on hand. That fish fry is March 27th everyone is encouraged to attend.
The Endowment Fund was discussed again and then tabled until April at which time Jack Brice will attend to help with the decision on how to proceed.
After deep discussion, it was moved and seconded to offer buffet breakfast in the Thaman Building from 7am to 11am during fair week and then close the dining room and use volunteer resources to operate the Concessions Trailer during the rest of the day.
The Foundation moved to have a full page ad in the Fair Book as well as approved the other approved another $500 in sponsorship monies for events and a racing blanket. A group picture was taken by Sharron Kissinger for the Fair Book.
Alan Bennett was appointed to be the new statutory agent for the Ohio Secretary of State for the Foundation as well as the Board voted to continue the $700 towards 4H camperships.
The Maple Syrup Festival is March 28th. The next meeting of the Williams County Fair Foundation is April 9th at 7:00 PM.
