Williams’ Double Leads Louisville To 2-1 Win Over Toledo

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Mason Williams hit a run-scoring double in the fifth inning to give the Louisville Bats a 2-1 win over the Toledo Mud Hens on Friday. With the loss, the Mud Hens snapped a five-game winning streak.

Garrett Boulware scored on the play after he led off the inning with a double and advanced to third on a single by Blake Trahan.

The double by Williams scored Boulware to give the Bats a 2-1 lead.

In the top of the first, Toledo took the lead on a solo home run by Ronny Rodriguez. Louisville answered in the bottom of the inning when Brandon Dixon hit a solo home run.

Dixon homered and singled, also stealing a base in the win.

Louisville right-hander Robert Stephenson (2-4) picked up a quality start and the win after allowing one run on just two hits over six innings. Opposing starter Artie Lewicki (3-3) took the tough loss in the International League game after giving up two runs and seven hits over 6 1/3 innings. Kevin Quackenbush retired the side in order for his third save of the season.

For the Mud Hens, Rodriguez homered and singled.
